Qatar Foundation ~ 15 Years of Unparalleled Achievement

Qatar Foundation is a private, non-profit organisation founded in 1995 by decree of His Highness
Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar.
The Chair of Qatar Foundation and Consort to the Emir is Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned.
Since its inception, Qatar Foundation has managed sustained growth, and over those 15 years has made unparalleled advances in developing its education, science and research, and community platforms.
Today Qatar Foundation has more than 50 members and joint venture partners and employs more than 2500 people who comprise over 50 different nationalities.
Whilst it is a rich and diverse community, there is an unwavering focus within Qatar Foundation on Unlocking Human Potential.

QF Corporate and QF Member Organisations
Qatar Foundation can be described as having two overarching areas of activity.
Qatar Foundation corporate
This is made up of internal divisions and directorates such as: Administration, Communication, Education, HR, Finance, Procurement, Transport and so on. These directorates are headquartered at Education City and are charged with the daily running of Qatar Foundation and with working alongside member organisations.
Qatar Foundation member organisations, joint ventures and projects
There are strategically and logistically overseen by QF Corporate, but are usually separately managed entities.
Generally speaking, each member organisation or selected partner, falls under one of three main categories which will strategically advance the nation towards achieving the Qatar National 2030 Vision.

Education Science & Research Community Development
QF Radio sits within the 'Community Development' framework.
QF Radio's mission is to reflect the activities and accomplishments of Qatar Foundation and its members and their contribution to the Qatar National 2030 Vision.
QF Radio is uniquely placed to gain access to the world's foremost thinkers, scientists, innovators, professors, leaders, artists and change agents, who regularly visit Qatar and Education City. Qatar is rapidly becoming known as the new 'Silk Road' for ideas and innovation.
Qatar National Vision 2030
The State of Qatar is focused on building human capital and a knowledge-based society in a post-carbon economy and has produced the Qatar National Vision 2030, which foresees development through four interconnected pillars:
<• Human Development: development of all its people to enable them to sustain a prosperous society
• Social Development: development of a just and caring society based on high moral standards, and capable of playing a significant role in global partnerships for development
• Economic Development: development of a competitive and diversified economy capable of meeting the needs of, and securing a high standard of living for, all its people both for the present and for the future
• Environmental Development: management of the environment such that there is harmony between economic growth, social development and environmental protection.

Students at Education City
Education
Education City is the innovative flagship project of Qatar Foundation. Located on the western edge of Doha, the campus houses six world leading universities.
Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar (VCUQatar) ~ Graphic, interior and fashion design
Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q) ~ Medicine and research
Texas A & M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) ~ Electrical, mechanical, chemical and petroleum engineering
Carnegie Mellon University Qatar (CMQ) ~ Computer science, business administration and information systems
Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar (SFS-Qatar) ~ International relations
Northwestern University (NU-Q) ~ Journalism and Communication

Qatar Science & Technology Park
Science and Research
Qatar Science & Technology Park (QTSP) , is a home for technology-based companies from around the world and is an incubator for start-up enterprises.
Opened in March 2009, its objectives', to attract companies and entrepreneurs from around the world, to develop & commercialise their technology in Qatar.
Among the first proud members were EADS, ExxonMobil, GE, Microsoft, Shell and Total; however the number of organisations has swelled considerably since its launch in March 2009.
QSTP is also at the forefront of industry-university collaboration and is located alongside the Education City campus enabling it to be involved in many integrated activities and research projects with the universities.

Sidra Medical and Research Centre
Community Development
Sidra Medical and Research Centre will be an ultra modern, all digital academic medical centre which is being designed and planned to the very highest standards in international health sciences. It will open in 2012 and is located near Education City, the home of Qatar Foundation on the western edge of Doha city.

Sidra Medical and Research centre will offer specialty care for women and children, in addition to select medical and surgical services for adult men and women.
It will encompass three essential missions:
World-class clinical care
Medical education
Biomedical research
Doha Debates

The Doha Debates have attracted wide international attention.
Televised eight times a year by BBC World News, the Doha Debates are based on a centuries-old debating format, and focus on a single, controversial motion, with two speakers for and against.
Once they have outlined their arguments, each speaker is questioned by the chairman and the discussion is then opened up to the audience for argument and a final electronic vote.The 350-strong audience are drawn mainly from Qatar’s student body and come from all over the Arab and Islamic world. In several debates they have adopted radical and unexpected positions.
BBC World News is seen by nearly 300 million viewers across 200 countries.
